Data Collection Tools and Resources for Consortium Members

  • Type of Practice: Data & Accountability

The Challenge

The Capital Adult Education Regional Consortium (CAERC) found inconsistent and inaccurate data-collection taking place across the consortium and needed to find a way to address the issue.

The Solution

To address the issue, the CAERC developed data-collection tools and resources for consortium-wide use.

The tool/resources include:

- A registration form
- Definition cards to help students complete the registration form accurately
- A simplified voluntary authorization-to-share Social Security number form.

Each resource was professionally translated into 17 languages to help improve the accuracy of our data-collection efforts with our region’s large population of English Language Learners. Translated documents are available in the following languages: Arabic, Cambodian/Khmer, Chinese, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, Hmong, Korean, Lao, Pashto, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Ukrainian, Urdu and Vietnamese.

Outcomes

As a result of this change, the consortium has seen complete and accurate data collected across the consortium.

The Data

The consortium now has more complete/accurate student demographic data as reported on the AEP data integrity report.
