The Challenge

Saddleback College, in partnership with the South Coast Regional Occupational Program (SCROP), is committed to provide programs and opportunities which serve the career training needs of adult students in South Orange County communities by offering Career Technical Education (CTE) programs that enhance employment potential and that help meet the employment needs of local businesses.

The Solution

Adult students will have access to highly technical laboratories with state-of-the art equipment such as a fully-equipped operating room, a medical assisting lab, a dental lab, and an X-ray room. Students also will have the opportunity to participate in internship and externship opportunities with over 300 business and industry partners throughout the region, to earn certifications and licenses, and to obtain employable skills in high demand/high wage occupations.

Outcomes

Programs will continue to be offered at the newly renamed CUSD College and Career Campus in San Juan Capistrano.

The Data

The College is now in the process of expanding partnerships. We are working with the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) to establish an opportunity of seamlessness between members. We plan to offer the OCDE’s College and Career Preparatory Academy (CCPA) High School Diploma (HSD) program to enhance access and increase the number of adult students earning a high school diploma. HSD programs will be offered at the CUSD College and Career Campus. HiSET® paper-based testing is being launched at Saddleback College in Spring 2016; HiSET® computer-based testing will be soon be offered at the CUSD College and Career Campus.
